Magic Runs in a Circular Motion

Today, I began a little post on magic.

Magic is something that is very fascinating to almost everyone. Even as children we are constantly exposed to the concept of magic...Cinderella, Thief of Bagndad, Little Mermaid, Frozen and on and on. Movies such as the Harry Potter series, or extremely interesting novels such as the Dresden Files, which are just excellent examples of how magic can be powerfully good or powerfully bad...evil in some people's dictionaries.

I chose my title for this post based on a verse from a beautiful Donovon song, because magic starts with us and ends with us.

We envision magic as some kind of external force impinging on our own...such as voodoo. But it's a well known fact that Voodoo only works because people give it power through their beliefs. Many people died in the Dark Ages because of curses, but not because the curses were real, but because they believed they were real, they made it happen.

I used to challenge the old granny tales about stepping on cracks, breaking a mirror, walking under a ladder, because I felt they were just whiffs of imagination. Nor more real than a Harry Potter story, or even a Cinderella story.

And yet within the roots of magic, are certain truths that indwell within each and every soul on our planet...and if we're generous in our view of life...probably on many other planets as well.

Like the Force of Star Wars, Magic is an indwelling power to give from ourselves, and this is the basis of any good story, whether we call it the magic the redemption of love, or the saving of a soul. Magic is from the heart. Real magic.

All for tonight.

Maybe more thoughts on magic another night.

Sleep well.
